In this course, learners will continue to build confidence and fluency in ASL. Topics of focus will be "Talking About Your Family" and "Everyday Activities" using the building blocks learned in ASL 1.1. Emphasis will be on continued fingerspelling proficiency and fluency, grammar using facial expressions and body language, as well as cultural norms and practices ASL users will experience in the deaf community. Additional ADVANCED vocabulary topics of focus will be: activity, work, family, gender identity, clothing, body position and action related signs, using noun-verb agreement modification and role-shifting. There is no need to purchase a text for this class if you purchased “Signing Naturally Student Workbook Units 1-6.“ for the ASL 1 class.
Prerequisites: ASL Level 1 or equivalent experience.
