Immunity is a subject of concern to many nowadays. Conditions of compromised immunity abound in our age, including cancer, AIDS, and the many allergies and other autoimmune disorders (lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, and many others). How can herbs affect immunity? How is the endocrine system (including the thyroid, adrenal, thymus, pancreas, reproductive, and other glands) tied in with immunity? How can herbs benefit endocrine hypofunction and hyperfunction? This class will explore the effects of herbs upon the immune and endocrine system.

Herbalism Certificate
Herbal therapy is the oldest and most widespread form of healing on planet earth! It is currently experiencing a revival in North America (since the mid-1980s), after a lull which transpired from the early 1900s with the advent of orthodox medicine and its array of drugs. Generally regarded as safer and just as effective (if not more effective) as orthodox medicine, herbalism is a science and art that can be successfully learned and utilized by the lay person. Through the use of tinctures, glycerites, teas, capsules, poultices, compresses, and salves, students enrolled in this course will learn to apply herbal therapy to support the constitution with reference to an array of conditions from A to Z, in consideration of guidelines as to indications, dosage, and contraindications.

This series has now been extended to 8 classes to expand on the depth of materials and deeper exploration of the history and development of Herbal Therapy.
