In this workshop, you will learn a series of energy enhancing exercises that co-ordinate movement with breathing and inner concentration. These gentle, flowing movements improve health and energy while reducing stress and are beneficial for people of any age. Loosely based on Tai Chi Chuan, Shibashi was founded in 1982 in Shanghai by Dr. Lin HouShen and Tai Chi Master Wei Qi He. Recognizing the health benefits of Tai Chi, they developed eighteen easy to learn and practice exercises. Shibashi offers many of the benefits of Tai Chi but has the advantage that it can be learned in a relatively short time. Over time a Set 2 and 3 were developed for a total of 54 movements in the entire system. This workshop focuses on the movements from Set 2. While an understanding of Shibashi Set 1 is helpful, this class is appropriate for the beginner. Shibashi can be learned and practiced in any order.
Following completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Perform the 18 movements of Tai Chi Qigong (Shibashi Set 2).
- Utilize these gentle qigong exercises for relaxation and stress management.
- Demonstrate the performance of Tai Chi Qigong (Shibashi Set 2) in a slow, safe and comfortable manner.
