Whether you’re starting a business, becoming an artist, or trying to figure out who you want to be when you grow up, this interactive course will take you from dreaming to experimenting to progressing on a plan of action that will transform your career day-dreams into the daily business of your life. Meeting weekly with your cohort and instructor is like having your own coach and accountability team to support you. You’ll create a visualization journal, develop and share a prototype, and create and commit to daily habits to turn your dreams into a tangible goal.
  • Course Outline:
    • Desired feeling map creation (drawing project)
      • Participants choose four feelings they’d like to experience on a daily basis as a result of achieving their dream.  They then draw a diagram with personal symbols for each feeling and the dream, thus creating a graphic map of their desires; similar to a vision board
        1. Small group discussion
        2. Large group discussion
    • Dream visualization and writing exercise (individual exercise)
      • Participants are guided through a visualization exercise during which they imagine what their life would be like when they’ve achieved their dream
        1. Small group discussion
        2. Large group discussion
    • List of doubts (individual exercise)
      • Participants create a list of all the doubts that have come up for them as they’ve articulated their dreams
    • Meet your doubt-monster (drawing/visualization)
      • Taking one of the most emotionally powerful doubts, participants draw a visual representation of their doubt as a character with a name and personality
        1. Small group discussion
    • Doubt-monster dialogue (writing exercise)
      • Participants write out a dialogue where they imagine asking their “monster” questions and receiving answers
        1. Small group discussion
        2. Large group discussion
    • Fact-check – large group solution generation
      • Participants anonymously submit doubts or issues they are facing and then those doubts are drawn randomly from a hat for problem-solving from the larger group
    • Action Planning
      • Participants are given an action planning template to fill out their game plan for taking small steps towards their dreams while also dealing with their doubts.
        1. Small group feedback and suggestions
    • Large group action plan commitment
      • Each member of the class shares their commitment to action in front of the group
      • Group gives vocal support for each participant
    • Closing
      • Participants make commitments to each other and share contact information
      • Course Objectives (for the student/attendee):
        • Explain a compelling vision for their life after they’ve achieved their dreams
        • Present an emotionally resonant depiction of the doubts that are standing in the way
        • Describe new tools and perspectives for grappling with their doubts more effectively
        • Establish an outside social network, designed to support participants in navigating their doubts effectively
        • Course Prerequisites:
          • One easily describable dream
          • Willingness to confront uncomfortable beliefs and take effective action to surmount them
