Experience a new language and culture with ASL. In this language series, you will gain an appreciation and understanding of Deaf Culture and Community and the critical skills necessary to communicate in ASL from basic to advanced levels using effective in-class learning strategies. You will learn basic vocabulary, grammar and expressive practice for everyday communication, beginning with personal information and moving to impersonal, polite to informal, and concrete to abstract. Instructor emphasizes a non-spoken classroom to help you achieve a mastery and confidence in your skill.
In ASL Level 2 students will learn how to give directions within a building, give commands involving objects and locations, ask/tell how long something takes in minutes and hours, understand how to modify verbs to show agreement with established locations, learn correct number forms for cardinal numbers 1-66, how to describe pets and more.
Prerequisites: ASL Level 1 or equivalent experience.
