This course continues its emphasis on the spontaneous interactive use of everyday American Sign Language as well as the confidence and fluency skills development. You will learn more complex ASL grammatical structures such as describing objects and persons using classifiers by using the building blocks from ASL 1, ASL 2, and ASL 3. You’ll increase your understanding of how sign movements can be modified to change meaning, how and when facial expressions occur and how body, head and eye movements are used in phrasing and agreements. Topics of focus will be: "Giving Opinions About Others”, “Discussing Plans and Goals”, and “Storytelling and Fables.” Additional ADVANCED vocabulary topics of focus will be: Food, Textiles, Characters, Complex numbers in ASL, Complex time signs. There is no need to purchase a text for this class if you purchased “Signing Naturally Student Workbook Units 7-12.“ for the ASL 3 class.

Prerequisite: ASL 3 or equivalent experience.
