Herbalism 5: Herbs for Digestion and Elimination (F)

ID : 62494
« back to classes page
Americans have the worst digestion in the world, due to our poor dietary habits and the ineffective ways that we deal with stress. And thus, “upset stomach” heartburn, nausea, abdominal bloating or pain, constipation, and other GI complaints abound in our society. So does the prescription of drugs in an attempt to deal with them! But rather than helping people by getting to the root of their problems, these prescription drugs often merely mask the symptoms. Carefully chosen herbs, however, can powerfully improve gastrointestinal function. Learn about herbs that stimulate or reduce gastric juice and bile, soothe or astringe GI mucosa, loosen or tighten stools, and modulate intestinal gas.

Herbalism Certificate
Herbal therapy is the oldest and most widespread form of healing on planet earth! It is currently experiencing a revival in North America (since the mid-1980s), after a lull which transpired from the early 1900s with the advent of orthodox medicine and its array of drugs. Generally regarded as safer and just as effective (if not more effective) as orthodox medicine, herbalism is a science and art that can be successfully learned and utilized by the lay person. Through the use of tinctures, glycerites, teas, capsules, poultices, compresses, and salves, students enrolled in this course will learn to apply herbal therapy to support the constitution with reference to an array of conditions from A to Z, in consideration of guidelines as to indications, dosage, and contraindications.

This series has now been extended to 8 classes to expand on the depth of materials and deeper exploration of the history and development of Herbal Therapy.
