The healthcare system relies heavily on the use of computers to manage patient information and administer consistent and appropriate care. Therefore, the healthcare professional must have a solid understanding of computer basics when working in any healthcare setting. This course will provide a comprehensive overview of the different computer suystems and operations that are used in the healthcare setting, including hardware and software applications. Students will learn how to use word processing, presentation, spreadsheet, and database software to manage daily office operations. In addition, students will become familiar with the internet and technology assisted communication, as well as the guidelines surrounding information access, use and privacy. Upon completion of this course, students will be fully prepared to utilize computer technology to perform administrative and patient care functions in a healthcare setting. Details
