The need for PCTs is growing rapidly as our aging population grows. A PTC performs similar patient care activities as a medical assistant with a slightly broader scope of practice including blood draws, EKG and phlebotomy procedures. Technicians typically work in hospital settings and often transition into hemodialysis technicians or other medical support roles. Every student completes a clinical externship to gain practical experience. Upon successful completion, students qualify for one of three national certification exams. Career advising and job placement services provided.

Patient Care Technician’s gain extensive knowledge in a variety of medical procedures including monitoring vital signs, collecting blood, pain management, care of surgical patients, infection control, end of life care, and much more.
